![]() ![]() Yeah I know everyone is salty about Alisha but I’m just gonna say it anyways because FUCK I AM SO SALTY ABOUT ALISHA. (Maybe have Sergei and Boris as the last remaining family or have them remind him of members of his family and that’s why he taught them Lion’s howl IDK, anything would have been better than boring side-quests to go find all the appropriate lazy-narrative historia) Leaving his entire past up to the Earthen Historia is pretty lame considering that Sergei trained under him and could have provided a far more meaningful narrative. There’s a lot to Heldalf’s whole story arc that I feel really could and should have been improved. Heldalf became the lord of calamity due to his entire family dying, if there was some way that Sorey was family (he was stationed at Camlann for a while so maybe he could have been Sorey’s father and maybe Sorey looked a lot like his mother?) it would make sense for him to want Sorey to join him. Honestly I was expecting a scene during the Earthen Historia to connect Sorey to Heldalf in a familial way. ![]() There’s no reason for this, they don’t give a reason for this in plot. They’re enemies but Heldalf just LEAVES for no reason. It doesn’t make any sense really for Heldalf to listen to Sorey at Aifread’s hunting ground. Not to mention I’m pretty sure that the game mentions that Heldalf was cast out of the Roland army in disgrace 20 years before the game so him being in charge of Roland’s army 17 years before the game doesn’t make much sense. In the opening cinematic it leads you to believe that it’s been AGES since the last shepherd but the events of Camlann only went down seventeen years ago and even if Michael had spent a long stretch of time in Camlann it couldn’t be more than 40 years since Lailah’s sword was put back in Ladylake but the idea of a Shepherd existing is met with disbelief UNIVERSALLY despite that the last one appeared not even a lifetime ago. ![]() I cannot quite puzzle out the timeline of Zestiria and the chain of events that occur before the game. The characters were not the problem I had with the game but boy did I have problems with the game. I loved the fact that Sorey was a total smart cookie, Mikleo the incredibly loyal tsundere king, Alisha my sweet lovely princess knight, Lailah the team mom, Edna the master of snark, Rose as the mood setter, misguided Dezel, and late-arriver Zaveid.
